قسم ہے رات کی جب وہ چھا جائے۔

1. By the night when it covers.

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

اور دن کی جب وہ روشن ہو۔

2. And [by] the day when it appears.

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ

اور اس ذات کی جس نے نر اور مادہ کو پیدا کیا۔

3. And [by] He who created the male and female,

Tafsir: Just as the dark, covering night is fundamentally different from the bright, illuminating day, and just as the male is distinct from the female, Allah establishes that the deeds of humanity are equally diverse and contradictory. فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ ۝ وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ ۝ فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ

پس جس نے (اللہ کے راستے میں) دیا اور پرہیزگاری کی، اور سب سے اچھی بات (توحید و آخرت) کو سچ مانا، تو ہم اسے آسان راستے کے لیے سہولت دیں گے۔

5-7. As for he who gives and fears Allah, And believes in the best [reward], We will ease him toward ease.

Tafsir: This is the path of salvation. Giving (Sadaqah/Zakat) combined with Taqwa (God-consciousness) and firm belief in the Hereafter triggers divine assistance. When a believer takes the first step toward goodness, Allah makes the path of righteousness natural and easy for them. Virtue becomes their second nature.

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ ۝ وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ ۝ فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ

اور جس نے بخل کیا اور بے پرواہی برتی، اور سب سے اچھی بات کو جھٹلایا، تو ہم اسے مشکل راستے (عذاب) کے لیے سہولت دیں گے۔

8-10. But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need, And denies the best [reward], We will ease him toward difficulty.

Tafsir: The exact opposite occurs for the arrogant miser. By hoarding wealth, feeling independent of Allah's mercy, and denying the Day of Judgment, this individual is left to their own destructive devices. The "ease toward difficulty" is a terrifying reality where committing sins becomes effortlessly easy for the corrupted soul, blinding them to their impending doom.

وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

اور اس کا مال اس کے کچھ کام نہ آئے گا جب وہ (جہنم میں) گرے گا۔

11. And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?

إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ ۝ وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ

بیشک راستہ دکھانا ہمارے ذمے ہے۔ اور بیشک آخرت اور دنیا ہمارے ہی اختیار میں ہیں۔

12-13. Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

Allah then issues a stark warning about the Hellfire, stating that none shall burn in it except the most wretched—those who outright denied the truth and turned their backs on prophetic guidance.

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى ۝ ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

اور جو سب سے زیادہ پرہیزگار ہے وہ اس (آگ) سے بچا لیا جائے گا، جو اپنا مال پاک ہونے کے لیے دیتا ہے۔

17-18. But the righteous one will avoid it - [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself.

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةٖ تُجۡزَىٰٓ ۝ إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ ۝ وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ

اور اس پر کسی کا کوئی احسان نہیں جس کا بدلہ اتارا جا رہا ہو، بلکہ وہ تو صرف اپنے سب سے اعلیٰ رب کی رضا جوئی کے لیے (دیتا ہے)۔ اور یقیناً وہ عنقریب راضی ہو جائے گا۔

19-21. And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded, But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. And he is going to be satisfied.

Tafsir: These stunning concluding verses define the pinnacle of Ikhlas (sincerity). True charity is not a transaction; it is not repaying a favor or seeking worldly clout. It is exclusively for the Face of Allah, the Most High. The divine promise to such a soul is absolute: "And he is going to be satisfied."
